Skiers have been horsing around this week in Leadville, Colorado at the annual ski joring competition.
This crazy event, in which a horse and rider pull a skier down a snow-packed road, round gates and over jumps while spearing rings, has been run for more than 60 years and originated in Scandinavia where Laplanders wearing Nordic skis would be towed behind a horse. In some parts of the world, skiers are pulled behind dogs or even snowmobiles.
The Leadville winner takes home $5000 but that’s unlikely to cover any medical bills say the organisers.
Amazing!!!
